New research suggests that turmeric has tangible, disease-fighting benefits for humans when added to everyday food.
In an experiment conducted by BBC with some of Britain’s leading health researchers, individuals who mixed a teaspoon of turmeric powder into their food every day for six weeks were found to have changes in gene activity that could lower risk of various diseases including depression, asthma, eczema and cancer. Meanwhile, individuals who took a placebo pill or turmeric supplement pill showed no significant changes in gene activity or lowered risk of diseases and cancer.
